About Our Club

WE ARE one of the 25,000 clubs in the world that offers our members a special way to serve our own community and the world.

We're friendly and informal.  We're delighted to meet new people.  We think we're just the right size of a club, small enough to know each other, large enough to be effective.  Guests and new members are always welcomed and greeted warmly.

We like to think of ourselves as open-minded and yet we don't always agree when we discuss issues.  We like to hear all sides.  We like to learn about different customs and different faiths.  We love a good discussion.  We love to learn.

Seattle International Rotary was established in 1984 and soon after, became one of the first Rotary Clubs in the nation to admit women.  When Rotary International threatened to revoke our charter, we filed an injunction to stop them.  Visit our Club History page to learn more.

Our members were born around the world; many speak more than one language.  Often, we know first hand about the regions of the world Rotary supports.  But our roots are in the community and we serve many community organizations with our time and other resources.

We enjoy a good story, good food, and love to laugh together.  We swear it keeps us young.
