"Like salmon, we are imprinted early in life on what feels like home".
One of our members tells why he joined the International District Rotary Club. Thanks for the inspirational words, David, and Welcome Home!
Why Join Rotary? Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In 166 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs.
In just over 100 years, Rotary has grown from a small club of four members to a worldwide network of men and women who share a common vision for a better world. The world's first service organization, Rotary has a long history of helping those in need and uniting people of different cultures and beliefs. Through the work of individual Rotary clubs, and through the programs of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation, Rotary is making the world a better place. |

"Initially I joined Rotary for leads to enhance my business. What I didn't realize was that Rotary is far more than that. It is the first group I have belonged to that really emphasizes giving back to the communities we live in and using our talents and money to help the needy. And that is a good thing." -- Brian Westerlund, member since 2001
How does one become a Rotarian? Membership is extremely important to us and we are always eager to hear from individuals who are interested in our mission and in joining our Rotary club. Rotary is founded on the premise that each club constitutes an accurate reflection or representation of the business and professional population within the community served. Membership in a Rotary club requires available business or professional classification opportunities, as well as an invitation and sponsorship by a member of the club. Thus, sometimes an individual cannot be invited or sponsored for membership. |
